Kite Surf
Near Patras, on the famous beach in Drepano, a cape is formed that stops the waves and in combination with the windy conditions for more than 200 days a year, ideal conditions are created for Kite Surf and Wind Surf. In the area there are several companies that offer rental services, courses, beach assistance, storage facilities, etc. The beach of Drepano hosts international and domestic festivals, Water Board Sports Festival, with dozens of participants and thousands of visitors.
Kalavrita Ski Center
At 15 km from Kalavrita is the ski center of Kalavrita on the north side of Helmos. It has been operating since 1988 and is constantly growing. It welcomes thousands of visitors each year supporting all levels of skiing, snowboarding and many snow activities. The view from the slopes to Patraikos and the Corinthian gulf is unique. You can be served with wide parking spaces, a first aid station, two chalets, an equipment rental shop and lots of learning schools. On some days the ski resort operates afterhours with the main chalet turning into a bar.
There is a total of eight lifts and fourteen slopes that include all levels of difficulty, with a total length of 25 km. The roads are being cleared from snow 24 hours a day and access from Kalavrita is easy through the beautiful fir forest. All the way up to Kalavrita and in the center of the village you will find shops for renting and selling equipment. From the village to the ski resort and vice versa you will find picturesque hostels, taverns and places for fast food and drink. Rock Climbing
Patras has several climbing fields nearby within the prefecture and on the other side of the sea, in Kryoneri. Mainly sport climbing is the most widespread with climbers from Patras in 1989 to 2004 to constantly raise the level of quality and difficulty even globally. During the several years that this activity is practiced, it has gained the respect and appreciation of all athletes and especially in the cases of sports that are in direct contact with nature. Kalogria
It has over 80 routes, mainly sport climbing but also more traditional ones. Gray positive, vertical but also of high negation rock up to 70 meters in the highest field. The difficulty ranges from V ideal for schools and beginners up to X + / XI- the “SIREN”. Ideal time for climbing is the end of October until March while in summer the shade is very limited and the sun hits the rocks. As for your accommodation, you either “illegally” enjoy the beautiful forest with free camping or in the surrounding villages with rooms for rent and more luxurious hotels. Alepochori
It has more than 60 routes for all levels in 5 fields. Quality limestone and points with stalactites give nice slopes and a feeling of climbing. The best season is autumn and spring. Degree of difficulty from V to X. In the homonymous village you will find a limited number of rooms to accommodate you, while you can also do camping freely and with respect for nature. The local taverns will leave you satisfied.
Varasova
In the seaside village of Kryoneri, opposite Patras, in prefecture of Aitoloakarnania, under the shadow of Mount Varasova there is one of the most beautiful climbing fields. The rock is limestone, strongly embossed with few visible loose spots and the over 90 slopes, grade IV-X support all levels. For your stay as usual either free camping in the area or if you are lucky a room in the village of Kryoneri at the base of the field, in the surrounding villages or even in Messolonghi at 10km. You will find taverns and groceries in a very close distance.

Immediately after the founding of the Association of Athens, the Hellenic Mountaineering Association of Patras was founded in 1928 and immediately the cooperation of the two began with joint activities. In 1931 the construction of the first shelter in Psarthi is completed and in the same year the skiing begins.
